FTP - File Transfer Protocol
Transferring data using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is both fast and secure. Customers can only upload files to the FTP site and cannot view other folders or customer files.
If you have a local FTP client you can use these details to connect to ARRK's FTP site:
- FTP address: ftp.arrkeurope.com
- Username: arrk
- Password: sparkle
If you don't have a local FTP client but do have internet access from your PC, the following can be used to transfer (upload) files to ARRK:
- Open "My Computer" or right-click on "Start" and select "Explore"
- In the Address bar type (or copy and paste): ftp://arrk:sparkle@ftp.arrkeurope.com
- This will open a blank window into which you can drag and drop your data. Please note that the data will not be visible to anyone else for confidentiality reasons.
Or to use Internet Explorer: click here to send your data
- This will establish a connection with ARRK's FTP server.
- Enter Username: arrk and Password: sparkle
- Click on the "Page" icon then on "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer".
- Enter Username: arrk and Password: sparkle
- Now simply drag files from your local file system into the browser window. A dialogue box will pop up to inform you of the data transfer progress. Note that the data will not be visible to anyone else for confidentiality reasons.
Important Note: Please phone the Projects department on 01452 727788 as soon as you send your data so that they can get a quote to you promptly.
Odette, EDI and Secure Web Portals
ARRK has an Odette server on site and we are happy to establish a secure connection with our customers on exchange of parameters. We can also collect data from your own EDI systems and secure web portals. Click here to request more information on other data transfer protocols.
MS-DOS/Windows:
- 4mm DAT/DDS tape (using 'Backup & Restore' or 'NT Backup')
- 3 1/2" floppy disk
- CD
- Iomega ZIP
UNIX (SGi):
- 4mm DAT/DDS tape - tar * format
- cpio
*Note: Occasionally problems are experienced trying to read customers' data from tape. In order to create a tar archive that is portable to as many types of systems as possible, use the fixed block, non-byte swapped device, and a blocking factor of 20 (with any type of tape device). The following command would do this:
'tar cbf 20 /dev/tape filelist'
